How hard it is to know the language of another person! To understand perfectly and to speak yourself! Each of us had his own language, his own way of understanding world around him. This language of his soul is as unique to the world as he is.
Just as we can trace the languages of the modern world through their influences back to the source, so we can trace each person’s language through the thoughts of those who influenced him. He can more easily speak to and understand someone whose language (and soul) are similar to his.
Failing this, there is always listening. Listening is the first job of the peace-maker. It is only by listening that we can learn another’s language. But to listen, we must first have peace within our own hearts.
“Peace to men of Good Will!”
